Default Settings Tab
Help Table of Contents
The Default Settings Tab allows you to set defaults for values that you will repeat
many times during normal shipping operation. For example, if you usually ship
by Ground delivery service, you can set the delivery service to default to Ground
in the default settings. When
you go to ship a package on the Shipping Options tab, the carrier service will automatically
be set to Ground. This saves you from having to set the same values over and over
again.
- If you ship more packages than Express Letters, set the Package Type to Package.
If you mostly ship Express Letters set the Package Type to Letter.
- If most of your shipments go to residential addresses click the Residential checkbox.
- If you usually will want a signature from the receiver of the package click the
Signature Required checkbox.
- If you usually have the carrier hold the package at the carrier location closest
to the receiver of the package, click the Hold At Location checkbox.
- If your labels will be printed on 4x6 thermal labels click the Print on 4x6 Labels
checkbox. You have the option of printing labels on 8.5 x 11 inch paper if
you don't have a thermal printer. If you don't have a thermal printer, do
not check the Print on 4x6 Labels checkbox.
- If you normally will print a Packing Slip, click the Print Packing Slip checkbox.
- If you would like to use the advance E-mail notification feature, you will need
to set the value for your outgoing SMTP mail server.
- The person receiving your package will also receive an E-mail by UPS. You can put a message in the E-mail from the carrier.
Put your message in the field labeled Email Notification message from Carrier.
- The Alternate Package Pickup Location is a location of your business that is different
than the address in the Business Info Tab. If the the Alternate Package Pickup
Location is filled in, UPS will come to this address to pick up packages.
If you don't have an alternate pickup location, you can leave these fields empty.
