Hardware Settings (scale and printer)

Help Table of Contents

The Hardware Settings Tab allows you to specify which type of Digital Scale and Thermal Printer you have.  If you don't have a Thermal label printer, you don't need to select a printer in the Hardware Settings.   Select your scale type using the Scale Type list box.  Select your Scale Port using the Scale Port list box.  Once the Scale Type is selected and the Scale Port is selected you can click the "Test Scale" button to see if the connection to the scale is working properly. Put some weight on the scale before clicking the Test Scale button.  Some scales give unreliable results when the weight is zero. Your scale should be set to work with weight units in pounds. Most scales support both pounds and kilograms. Presently the shipping saver only works with the setting on pounds.

Please see specific instructions for setting up the Mettler Toledo.

Please see specific instructions for setting up the DigiWeigh scale.

The last and very important step after choosing your Digital Scale options is to click the "Save " button.  This saves your selections.

Before you select a thermal printer with the printer selection dialog, you may need to first download a printer driver for your thermal printer. Clicking on the Download Printer Drivers... button will bring up a web page on the Zebra website where you can download the latest driver for your thermal printer.  When considering a thermal printer to use with the Shipping Saver software, keep in mind that presently the Silverthorne Shipping Saver only supports Zebra or Eltron thermal printers and a thermal label size of 4x6 inches.

To select a thermal printer, click the "Select Thermal Printer..." button. A printer selection dialog will appear similar to the one pictured below:

Click the Printer Name dropdown list and select your thermal printer. Then click the OK button.  The last and very important step after choosing your Thermal Printer is to click the "Save" button.
