Restore Database

Help Table of Contents     Backup Database

The Restore Database feature allows you to quickly bring your business database back to life after your computer crashes, gets a harmful virus, etc.

The Restore Database feature is located by selecting the menu item Settings under the main menu item Configuration.  Once the Configuration Settings panel is displayed, you will see the Backup/Restore Tab to the far right side of the panel. Click the Backup/Restore Tab.  You will now see the Backup and Restore Database Tabs.  Click the Restore Tab. The "Restore Database From File Path" will initially be blank.  After your system does its first Database Backup, the "Restore Database From File Path" field will be filled in automatically with the file path you selected on the Database Backup Panel and the path will include the filename of the backup file.  This should be the complete path you need to restore your database.  You can also use the "Browse... " button to search for a backup file, but you normally will just want to use the file path that is automatically filled in for you.

The "Browse... " button at the end of the "Restore Database From File Path" data entry field allows you to browse for and select your Database Backup file.

Before restoring your MySql database, it may be necessary to reinstall the MySql database software onto your computer.  It depends on what failure happened to your computer.

The Clean DB button and Restore DB buttons will be disabled until you log in as Admin.  This is to protect your database from accidentally being wiped out.

The steps to restoring your MySql database are simple:

  1. Click the button labeled "Step 1) Clean DB"
  2. Click the button labeled "Step 2) Restore DB"

The Silverthorne software application will close down.  Restart the application and your data should be in the application.
